War on Weeds: Rounding up the Usual Suspects

August 17 | 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us for an enlightening lecture on the “War on Weeds in Central Oregon,” where we will delve into the pressing issue of noxious weeds threatening our local ecosystems. This comprehensive session will focus on identifying, understanding, and combating invasive weed species such as cheatgrass, knapweed, and toadflax.

Topics will include

Identification of Noxious Weeds: Learn to recognize the most problematic invasive species in Central Oregon. We will provide detailed descriptions and visual aids to help you identify these weeds in the wild.

Impact on Local Ecosystems: Discover why these weeds are so detrimental to our environment. We will explore how they outcompete native plants, disrupt wildlife habitats, and increase fire hazards, ultimately threatening the biodiversity and health of our ecosystems.

Strategies for Weed Control: Gain insights into effective methods for controlling and eradicating these invasive species. We will cover various techniques, from manual removal and herbicide use to biological control and habitat restoration.

Community Involvement: Learn how you can contribute to the fight against noxious weeds. Whether through participating in local weed pulls, educating your community, or adopting best practices for land management, your efforts can make a significant difference.

We look forward to seeing you there and working together to combat the invasive species threatening our beautiful region.
