The 2023 Sunriver ‘Christmas Bird Count’ was held on Wednesday, December 20th based out of Sunriver Nature Center.
We are looking for volunteers to help us count and compile the data. Sign up below if you are interested.
This 24-hour birding event is a citizen science activity where we count as many of the birds as we can find in a local fifteen-mile diameter circle. Beginners are paired with experienced birders and everyone is given a specific part of the count circle to cover. Some bird teams will hike, some will ski, some will drive, some will stand by waterways or forest edges, and some will sit by feeders.
So, if you love birds or want to learn more about birds or just want to hang out with birders and locals at a community science event, please join us on December 20th to participate in this historical National Audubon event. Register in the form below.
