Come join the staff at the observatory as we learn about our Sun and watch as it goes through a partial solar eclipse. This eclipse’s path of totality runs from Mexico to Canada through the Midwest and Eastern US. Since Sunriver is far to the west of totality, there is no safe time to look at the Sun during this eclipse without specialized equipment or eclipse glasses. We will have a partial eclipse with about 25% of the Sun being blocked by the Moon. At the observatory, we will supply eclipse glasses to all attendees as well as having several telescopes set up with a variety of solar filters to make for fun and safe eclipse viewing.
