Yellow Rails are notoriously one of the hardest birds to spot and their numbers are on the decline, especially in Oregon. One of the best ways to detect these tiny, marsh-dwelling birds is to call to them in the evenings. Kaly Adkins, a local ODFW biologist will talk to you about how and where to call for rails.
Bullfrogs are an introduced species whose size and appetite threaten native frogs and toads. Removing them from our waterways is the best way to protect endangered species like the Oregon Spotted Frog. Jodi Wilmoth of 3 Rivers Environmental patrols local waterways in search of bullfrogs and you can help by learning their characteristic croak.
This class will take place at Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory’s Pozzi Building.
